Lately, we started receiving quiet a few enquiries from our clients wishing to extend their Morocco desert tour from Marrakech beyond Fes, all the way to the blue city of Chefchaouen and Tangier. Therefor, instead of tailoring this trip to every sigle one of you, we thought of this Marrakech to Tangier Morocco tour package via the Sahara desert, Fes and Chefhaouen. This is a perfect tour for this of you who are combining Morocco with Spain and will to cross the straight of Gibraltar on a ferry, or simply take the train from Tangier to Casablanca for your outbound flight.
MARRAKECH TO TANGIER TOUR VIA SAHARA DESERT & CHEFCHAOUEN
Our journey starts by leaving the beautiful city of Marrakech and heading towards the city of Ouarzazate. To get there, we will climb up the High Atlas Mountains up to the “Tizi n’Tichka” mountain pass that reaches an elevation of 2260 metres. In the winter season, snow often falls on the pass making it one of the most beautiful landscapes in Morocco. Along the way, we will stop for breaks to rest , enjoy the panoramic views and take pictures .We will also get to visit the Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou , a fortified village representing the architecture of southern Morocco and that has served as a location for dozens of hollywood films. After lunch , we continue our journey to Ouarzazate , another favorite location for shooting movies , and after which we continue our drive through the Skoura Palm Groves, we we will pay a visit to one of the best preserved Kasbahs in Morocco: Ksar Amridil. From here, we will continue to Kelaat M´gouna also known as the Valley of the Roses to finally reach our last stop for the day : the Dades Gorge, where you will have a delicious Moroccan dinner and spend the night at your hotel.
After having breakfast at the hotel, it’s time to say goodbye to the beautiful dades gorge as we head off to another one just as beautiful and breathtaking : The Todgha Gorge near the town of tinghir . This gorge is a series of limestone massive river canyons reaching up to 300 meters high, which makes it the perfect place for rock climbers. You also get the opportunity to see the local Berber nomads riding their donkeys or inside the stream in the heart of Todgha oasis. After having lunch, we continue our journey to the Sahara desert passing through palm groves and Berber villages. Once arrived to the Sahara of Merzouga you can already start enjoying the beautiful Erg Chebbi dunes , but the best is yet to come . After a mint tea break , be ready for your camel ride across the dunes where you will have the chance to witness the most beautiful sunset view before getting to your final destination for the day : The sahara desert camp. There, you can expect to have a one of a kind experience as you’ll have dinner and enjoy local Moroccan music under a starry sky .
We hope that you didn’t stay up too late watching stars the previous night because you will be waking up early in the morning and getting ready for your camel ride back to Merzouga .This ,however, will be well worth your while . At this time of the day, you will have the unique opportunity of seeing the sunrise from a whole new perspective ; the yellow shinning sun fills the sky with a beautiful mixture of colors creating the most beautiful , mesmerizing landscape. Once you arrive to the hotel, breakfast will be waiting for you and afterwards our journey continues to Fes. To get there we will be passing from Erfoud , Aoufous and Errachidia where you’ll get to see the wonderful Ziz Valley. And then from Tizi n’Talghemt pass to Midelt where you will have a lunch break. After that , we head to the Middle Atlas Mountains where the most beautiful scenery awaits: cedar forests, full of Barbary Apes, and snow in the winter. From there we go to Ifrane, the Switzerland of Morocco and also the city elected the world’s second cleanest city by MBC Times . There we stop for a picture and coffee break before we head off to our final destination for this day : The Imperial city of Fes where you’ll be staying in a riad .
After breakfast, meet your local guide and your day starts by discovering the imperial city of Fes, its medina which was named a world heritage site and its multitude of historical monuments, Madrasas, Mosques, zawiyas and buildings that show the beauty of Moroccan architecture. From there , and after a lunch break , we go on with our journey towards Volubilis , another world heritage site containing Roman vestiges that bear witness to several ancient civilizations.Then we head to the blue pearl of Morocco : chefchaouen with its beautiful blue alleys and buildings and its breathtaking surrounding mountainous landscape. You will be spending the night in one of the riads of this relaxing blue city.
Today , you get the opportunity to truly enjoy the city of Chefchaouen and its charming blue streets and shops , ideal for taking wonderful pictures and purchase some souvenirs as you’ll find a number of native handmade items that can’t be found elsewhere in Morocco. After lunch we head further north to the beautiful city of Tangier and the last destination in your journey.
